2006-07-01 [idyllicday]: actually if i remember correctly rancid is considred among one of the new west coast bands with the 80's punk generation sound. it still could be considered punk (if it applies) but it just sounds different because it's not the regular east coast style.

2006-07-01 [idyllicday]: And FYI: Rancid is indeed one of the west coast which means, yes, it might sound a little hiphop at times or they may have sounded better before they were officially 'Rancid'. But the fact remains that Rancid is Ska-punk. Ska is still considered punk. And if you go through their lyrics you will not find much about whining over girlfriends or video games. It's drinking and the desolation of cities. As far as the ones I saw anyway. I don't listen to Rancid much, but I will start now. In Other Words....Rancid is Ska-punk, a branch of punk. Debate dead.
